Athletics was always a part of my life growing up and I was four sport athlete in high school. I had the opportunity to attend Texas A&M from 2001-2005 where I was a four-year Lettermen in the discus, shot put, hammer, and weight throw. During my time there I as a Big X11 All-Conference discus thrower who qualified for Nationals in 2003 with a personal best of 172.4. During my time at A&M I was also an NCAA Scholar Athlete.
After graduation I wanted athletics to remain a part of my life and be able to use all that I had learned at Texas A&M, and worked to get my NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and NSCA Certified Personal Training certification’s. I used this to train myself and clients for personal health, 5ks, half marathons, and triathlons – all of which I have competed in.
Currently I am the Operations & Player Services Manager for the Austin Sports & Social Club and have three kids. In my “free time” I have begun training for Strongman. I did my first Strongman competition in January 2019 where I set a USS National Axle Clean & Press record of 200lbs. I will be competing at the USS National Meet in June. Never stop believing, never stop achieving!
I believe that my broad spectrum of training knowledge I have assessed over my life will help any age athlete become the best version of themselves. Though sport specific technique is important and will be the focus of training, I also base my coaching emphasis on other key elements like strength and conditioning to be the best athlete possible, learning hard work and goal setting through sports, and training my athletes to preserve and push themselves to achieve new heights. It is about training youth to become good athletes and good people, not just good throwers.
