A Legacy of Excellence
Since joining APV in the fall of 2018, Coach Brian has become a cornerstone of our program, drawing athletes from across Texas to benefit from his unparalleled coaching. His dedication has propelled over 40 athletes to join college pole vault teams in the past six years alone, showcasing his ability to prepare young athletes for success at the next level.
Collegiate Coaching Achievements
Coach Brian’s impact extends to the collegiate level. At the invitation of University of Texas Coach Dana Boone, Brian helped establish the women’s pole vault team, starting with just one athlete and a few poles. Under his guidance, the program flourished, producing:
- The first UT female Big 12 pole vault champion
- 8 consecutive Big 12 victories
- UT’s first female NCAA pole vault champion and NCAA indoor record holder
In addition, at Huston -Tillotson University
- NAIA indoor and outdoor champions and record holders
A Proven Track Record
Before joining APV, Coach Brian founded Lone Star Pole Vaulting in 1997, where he coached:
- 13 UIL State Champions and 2 UIL record holders
- 9 private school champions and 2 records
- 2 USATF Junior Olympic Champions and 1 USATF record holder
- 9 AAU record-holding Junior Olympic Champions and 2 AAU record holders
He also served as a coach for the Austin Striders from 1991 to 1994, laying the foundation for his remarkable career.
Expertise and Certification
Coach Brian is a certified master-level pole vault official, ensuring that his athletes receive training grounded in technical precision and competitive integrity. His deep knowledge of the sport, combined with his passion for mentoring young athletes, makes him an exceptional coach for aspiring vaulters. He has officiated the Texas Relays for 30 years and officiated 10 UIL State Championships.
